Being prepared is one of the best things you can do when traveling, especially with your children.
Over the years of flying, I have found these are the most useful things to have in my carry on for on board the flight and in case of luggage or other emergencies.
Mom: 1 pair of black leggings, 1 t-shirt, undergarments, socks.
Dad: 1 pair of jeans, t-shirt, undergarments, socks.
Children: pair of leggings, t-shirt, underwear, socks, pajamas.
Easy jacket for everyone on board for when it gets chilly on board.
Always bring an extra outfit for you and your children. I try to pack things that are thin and versatile. This is so important because if your child has an accident, it can very well be on you as well as them, take throw up for example. Oh, the joys!
Not only will this help you if there is a mishap on board the plane, this will also hold you over for at least a day if your luggage were to get delayed or lost.
3 Days’ worth of diapers in my carry-on. I buy the rest when I arrive at my destination. This is enough to get me through the airport, the flight and arrival, as well as extra for any delays or schedule changes.
1 large pack of wipes
1 bottle of children’s Tylenol and 1 bottle of children’s Benadryl, I bring these because they can be used for infants and toddlers if need be.
Zofran – my daughter gets motion sickness and I always need this on a plane in case it gets uncontrollable. (This is prescription from our pediatrician).
Water Bottles- Empty, buy water bottles at airport to fill up on plane.
iPad/laptop (see blog post on best iPad games or downloads for children)
Headphones
Portable Charger
Toys – See post on best toys to bring on board for your children.
Regular chargers
Clorox wipes
wet ones or hand sanitizer
Childs blankets small and packable
Facial spritzer, can double as something the kids think is fun.
Any adult medications that are prescription in case airline loses your checked bag
