Thought of going to one of Disneyland’s special ticketed events? Oogie Boogie is always one of our family’s favorites.
A special ticketed event is hosted at Disney’s California Adventure Park every year. The park is shut down for the event starting at 6 p.m. The special ticket also allows you to get into Disney’s California Adventure Park at 3 p.m. the day of your event.
What can you expect?
When tickets go on sale, the wait times are a little crazy. Make sure you block out enough time in the morning to wait in the queue. It always takes me a few hours to get in and purchase even if I am on time.
Wristbands are given out upon arrival to differentiate who gets to stay in the park after 6 p.m. There are maps provided as well to highlight all the treat trails and picture spots. And candy bags to collect your goods.
There are lots of amazing costumes, an insane amount of candy and treats, and special rides/characters themed around Disney villains. There is also a special parade that is just for Oogie Boogie’s Bash held at 2 times that evening.
Insider tips
Have a strategy. The park is only open until 11 p.m., and the rides depending on the date you go have much lower wait times. But if traveling with smaller children it is difficult to fit in over 10 treat trails, rides, and a parade. It can be done but there has to be some method to it.
The treat bags they give you are great, but bring a large tote or pillowcase to empty them into. The employees are extra generous on the treat trails.
MARS hosts the event so they are all Mars corporation candies and snacks. They also give out chips, goldfish, apple slices, and carrot sticks. There is a wide variety for everyone. Please do not do what I did and forget to put all the apples and carrots in the fridge the night you come home. It’s such a bummer to have to throw them out!
Besides the special ticketed event, great treats and a fun theme. It is so much fun to see how creative people get and the costumes every year.
